Holy Smokes Batman – Human Hamster Balls?
On Saturday, May 10, 2014, we held our 1st Annual Bressler & Company “Client Appreciation Picnic” at Heritage Park in Lemoore. This year’s theme was “Superheroes”, and we were decked out in our Team Bressler superhero shirts. Many of our clients, their children and grandchildren joined in the superhero fun by wearing their favorite superhero shirt or costume as well.
One of the biggest hits was the Human Hamster Ball Track! Yes, Batman, there really is such a thing as human hamster balls! We placed the track right in front of the arbor so everyone could enjoy the show. It wasn’t just the kids who got in them either. “Holy heart failure, Batman” as Robin, his trusty sidekick would say, many adults got in them too and gave us several hours of belly laughs while we enjoyed our catered meal from Ethel Red’s Chop House.
We had several other activities available as well – a Batman bounce house, a children’s activities table where they colored their own superhero masks and could do other activities, horseshoes games, and Frisbee Golf. Haven’t heard about Frisbee Golf either? That’s another fairly new activity! It’s played just like golf, but instead of hitting a golf ball with a club into holes around a golf course, you throw a Frisbee into baskets on poles around a special course designed for Frisbee Golf. Frisbee golf tournaments are gaining popularity, and there are quite a few Frisbee Golf courses around the Valley including the one right here at Heritage Park in Lemoore. They even make different Frisbees just like they make different clubs for golf – one style for long-range drivers, another for mid-range drivers, and still another for putters! There are even variations within each group depending on the individual player’s preference.
The wind played havoc with us by blowing our tablecloths that were taped down to the tables off; blowing the balloon table bouquets in everyone’s faces, and making Frisbee golf even more challenging, but we made adjustments and persevered — wind or no wind, we were going to enjoy the day.
One of the biggest hits of the day was dessert! We had home-made cookies from Lorilee’s Bakery and ice cream from Superior Dairy – The Rolling Cones brought out their ice cream trailer.
For Team Bressler, the most enjoyable part of the day was seeing all the smiling faces and knowing that you were enjoying the picnic as much or more than we were. We had a chance to say “Thank You” for your business, and everyone we spoke to told us how much they enjoyed the opportunity to just sit, visit, and chat with us as well as other people they knew without having to talk about business. There’s nothing better than enjoying a day of good friends and good food.
In fact, we had so much fun, we’re already planning next year’s picnic! As Robin would say, G-Willikers! Batman! Don’t forget to put Saturday, May 2, 2015 on your calendar. You won’t want to miss it.
