2012 Tax Return Filings Delayed
As you may be well aware, your 2012 tax return filings may have been delayed this year. I would like to make sure you understand why this delay has taken place.
The U. S. Congress has been debating with each other over just about everything including agreeing on a federal budget. In truth, they have not set a budget in the last four years! Because they did not come to an agreement on whether or not to extend the Bush Era tax cuts until January 1, 2013, the IRS and all the software developers who create tax preparation software did not have adequate time to create all the forms and instructions to prepare your 2012 tax returns – in fact, 29 forms were not released until March 3, 2013 and some are still pending! They not only made changes to the 2013 tax code, but changes to the 2012 tax code which is why we are experiencing all these delays.
For us at Bressler & Company, these changes meant delays in starting the returns, extra time spent preparing them, and even more time than normal to double check everything before they were filed. Click on your State Senators and District Representatives below and express your frustration to them! California has 2 state senators and 53 representatives. If you do contact them, you should contact both senators and at least the representative for your district.
